Instructions: People who have full member status for 2012 may vote using the form below. If you would like to join the organization please select "Membership Registration" at the bottom of this page. For each office select the circle beside your choice. You can vote for the individual(s) listed or type in another NCABA member's name. Before typing in a candidate, please verify that the person will serve if elected. Place your name and email address in the spaces provided for NCABA membership verification and click the submit button at the bottom of the page. Ballots must be submitted online by February 12, 2012. Ballots will be accepted at the conference registration booth until 6:00pm February 16, 2012.



Vice President

Vicki Harper is the Psychology Liaison to the Medical Department and a member of the Behavioral Medicine Clinic team at the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. She received her Master's degree at Appalachian State University. Vicki has presented papers and posters at ABA, NCABA, and conferences associated with AAIDD. Vicki's current work focuses on behavioral assessment of pain among individuals with severe and profound cognitive and communication deficits and behavioral support for children and adults with autism. She has been associated with NCABA since the inception of the organization serving as the first Student Representative and as the 2009-2011Member At Large.

Secretary

Beth Schmitt is the current Secretary for NCABA serving her third two-year term. She has worked for the State of NC for the past eleven years as a Staff Psychologist, first at the Caswell Developmental Center and currently as a part of Statewide Services at the Murdoch Developmental Center. She is a graduate of Meredith College and received her advanced degree from East Carolina University under the direction of Dr. Jeannie Golden. She has worked in the field of behavior analysis since 1994 and her interests include behavioral research and developments in the areas of severe behaviors related to Autism and Developmental Disabilities.

Member-At-Large

Chris Wensil has been a conference-attending member of NCABA for several years and through professional growth he has become an advocate for the field. Chris has worked with children with Autism and other developmental disabilities since 2002 using Applied Behavior Analysis. He attended East Carolina University attaining a degree in Psychology and pursued further education in Applied Behavior Analysis through the University of North Texas. Chris began his career in the field as a therapist in an ABA home based program for a child with Autism in Greenville, NC. Chris joined The Mariposa School for Children with Autism in June of 2004. He held positions of Instructor, Instructor II, Lead Instructor and Program Coordinator. Chris received BCaBA certification in August of 2008. Chris currently works as a Program Coordinator for The Mariposa School for Children with Autism in Cary, NC.

Jennifer Deacon is a Licensed Psychological Associate who received her Master's Degree in Psychology at East Carolina University in 1995. She has worked as a Staff Psychologist at Caswell Center from 1995-1998, J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center from 1998-2005, Caldwell County Schools in 2011 before returning to J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center in December 2011. She has formerly worked as a research associate under Jim Bodfish, Ph.D. from 2004-2007. Jennifer has been a member of NCABA for many years, and has been the presenter/co-presenter on several presentations or posters at NCABA, FABA and SEAAIDD conferences. Jennifer served as on NCABA's board from 2008-2011, serving as President in 2010.

Selene Johnson is the Executive Director of ABC of NC Child Development Center, a specialized center-based program for students with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) located in Winston-Salem, NC. The school is accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and provides a variety of educational services, including 1:1 instruction, small group instruction, parent education services, social skills groups, and professional workshops. Selene has worked with students with ASDs for over 15 years. Trained as a behavior analyst and a licensed special education teacher, she incorporates evidence-based practices in order to provide effective programs for students. She received her Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Selene has presented at local and national conferences on evidence-based practices for autism treatment and education and has served on the governor-appointed Joint Study Committee on Autism Spectrum Disorder and Public Safety, studying autism health insurance legislation in NC.
